This year the unifying theme of the StudioFest festival is the oikoumene, the part of the Earth that humanity has made its own. The concert programmes feature works by composers from various countries and corners of the world – except Europe and North America. “Our universe no longer has a single corner that has not been explored, photographed, studied and traversed by naturalists” – the festival evening opened with this thesis from the presenter, Fyodor Sofronov. The music that followed, however, managed to refute it.
