Bridging East and West

The Studio for New Music ensemble performed works by Wang Chenxu

Wang Chenxu firmly holds his place as one of the most promising Chinese composers of the new generation. He became the youngest composer to receive the Golden Bell Award – his country’s highest music prize. His works have been performed at leading concert venues and on China Central Television (CCTV), and have been noted by many major media outlets. The composer received a dual education – first at the Central Conservatory of Music in Beijing, and then at the Moscow Conservatory, where he studied with Yuri Kasparov – which is why Wang Chenxu’s music unites the traditions of Chinese culture and the Russian school.
